Immigration and Civil War

What is ‘Sea Prayer’? A 46-page graphic novel book. Sea prayer is a war story set back during 2015 when there was a civil war in Syria. In writing this piece, Hosseini hopes to pay tribute to the millions of families affected by war and persecution, like that of the three-year-old, Alan Kurdi’s body washed up on a beach in Turkey around September of 2015.
It is all about the hardships people had faced in Syria back in 2015 – they had to immigrate to other places in order to get out of the dangerous war zone. Moreover, the story mainly focuses on a father’s perspective, who wrote about his son and what the experience was like. It was solely based on the third-year old boy named Alan Kurdi who had drowned and washed up on the shore.
It followed through a family with Ghalib, the older brother, Zahin/Rihanna, the mother, and the father, Abdullah (who was the person driving the boat). Unfortunately, only the father survived and told the story to the public and how this is an example of why it is important for them to welcome Syrians and not shame them.
"In the early hours of Sept. 2, the family crowded onto a small inflatable boat on the beach of Bodrum, Turkey. A few minutes into the journey to Greece, the dinghy capsized. Alan, his older brother Ghalib and his mother Rihanna all drowned, joining the more than 3,600 other refugees who died in the eastern Mediterranean this year. " says the photographer who had found the body, Nilüfer Demi (2015).
Alan Kurdi soon became the symbol for all children who had woefully lost their lives trying to reach Europe for safety (Walsh, 2015).
Apart from that, the illustrator, Dan Williams wanted to portray how the story was told from a bright and sunny perspective to a dark one, with the art in the graphic novel slowly turning from brightly coloured to dark colours — blue, grey, brown. The writer of the story, Khaled Hosseini, uses terms that seem very personal for them.
The entire story strongly represents the crisis that has started way back from March 15, 2011. It is known that this crisis is still ongoing showing that this is a decade long feud between the citizens and the government.
Peaceful protests called for democratic reforms began with 50 peaceful demonstrators. As of 1963, Syria has an autocratic government led by the al-Assad family. It is unusual for such demonstrations to occur during that time. In 2021, the 11th year of the war in Syria, it was said that 3,746 people were killed due to the proceeding war (Doubek, 2021). Although rebel forces still control large sections of the country, Syrian President Bashar Assad has declared victory in the war (Myre, 2016).

Immigration
Immigration and the alternative in its worldwide dynamics have emerged as especially critical subjects of cutting-edge time. Recent large-scale immigrants have beaten some governments, especially in Europe (Umera, 2017).
For instance, immigration, collectively with the financial system and security, changed into one of the key subjects of electoral campaigns in Europe and the United States. Hence, this twenty first century project wishes to be addressed with the aid of the global community (Umera, 2017). That is viably simplest through complete dedication to tackling its root-causes. And as worldwide citizens, each the blind and sighted, it's far as much as us to assist our leaders make the proper selections on immigration.
Many categories can be seen when we think about immigration and its factors. The way we look into how and why people immigrate to other countries may vary from one another. But, if we look at Sea Prayers, it talks about war and the danger that is ahead of the people if they do not leave. It was a do or die situation. Unfortunately, thousands of refugees still lost their lives while reaching for safety. To be exact, at least 8721 refugees and migrants had drowned, and each shipwreck cost over 300 people’s lives (Reid, 2021).
Having stated that, a pretty essential purpose of immigration is the presence of ‘opportunity’, which may be monetary opportunity, employment opportunity, or academic opportunity. The majority of worldwide and a few inner immigrants fall beneath this category, which include investors, entrepreneurs, professional workers, guide labour, and students. Within this group, poverty is a distinguished purpose of monetary immigration, specifically to guide labour (Umera. 2017). The rural-city migration (moving from villages to towns for higher jobs and income) is specifically the immigration of guide labour.
Another purpose is ‘own circle of relatives’, considering the fact that the own circle of relatives reunion is likewise an essential part of immigration statistics (Umera, 2017). Not to forget, the tendency of reunification is sort of continually in the direction of one's companions dwelling in international locations with higher enjoyment of life. Finally, a brand new fashion of immigration is ‘retirement immigration’ in which retired people from evolved international locations flow to different locations in pursuit of perceived higher pleasure in life. Resources play an essential function on this kind of immigration.
What is civil war?
Globally, the world faces many problems with wars and the consequences that go behind it. In general, civil war is between groups of organisations or communities just right in the country. It is what you call a conflict between different political parties in the country which are fighting for power (Michels, 2014).
There are many possible motives for conflict to start between or greater often, within nations. Among those are financial gain, territorial gain, religion, nationalism, civil conflict, and political revolution (James, 2022). Often, countries' leaders grow to be number one motivators of struggle far through instigating a territorial dispute, looking to manage any other country's herbal resources, or working out authoritarian energy over people.
Many of those wars are unfolding in states with restrained capacities to reply to and mitigate the safety results that emanate from inner violence and kingdom disorder. Almost all of those results, in a single shape or another, are the assets of sizable human struggling and local instability. And whilst mixed with different worldwide threats, including pandemics and transnational terrorism, civil wars would possibly in the end declare a spectacular wide variety of lives (Eikenberry and Krasner, 2017).
