“Urgent!
Danni, come home, it was all a mistake. Love mum.”
Come home? After everything? No, no, no. Never! It was just half past noon. Way too early for this nonsense. A mistake? No, all of this was planned out. Dannis knew very well what they were planning. Emotionally tripping you into thinking they loved you, needed you, wanted you.
She had never asked for anything in her life, and there she was asking for this one thing. To be able to go in peace. To live her own life.. So why couldn’t she have it?
Her mother's comments from years back had been resented in every word of that ad. “It was all a mistake.” Sure, whatever you want to think to make yourself feel better. The girl could clearly hear the loud stone-cold tone of her mother’s voice. “No, you are not leaving this house unless I tell you to. Nothing goes against my orders. You of all people should know. I’ll have more security on the gates. If it were my choice, I wouldn't let anyone near Dannis, but we have to fool the world, don't we? '' As she went on and on, it was clear to see if she hated her own daughter instead of the world the woman was trying so hard to protect from. But, was it surprising? No. Not anymore at least.
Dannis could feel the room shrinking more as the air grew cold. She couldn’t take it anymore. When he dwelled on the past, she felt everything, something she wasn't accustomed to doing. In that moment, the girl experienced all the emotions he went through. In general, Dannis had no problem stopping her emotions from leaking out, but when it came to the past, it broke her.
The girl felt herself breaking. Crumbling into the seat as the woman in front of her went on and on. Whether she should’ve been thankful for that or not, whether she wanted everyone to notice as she surely wanted to scream. No, I can’t do this anymore! I have to leave!
Instead she settled for getting up. And leaving. Very quickly in fact. It all happened so fast that she barely remembers how her mother screamed for her response sharply, which never was a pleasing sound to hear. Dannis knew there were consequences to face later on, but she didn’t care for it. She was only concerned about getting out of the place.
But she knew, whatever she did, she was never going to escape.
