Walking into an unknown dark room, shivers down my spine, wondering what is happening. Where are my feet telling me to go? Why was my body dragged into this place? Somewhere unfamiliar, somewhere that feels out of place, especially for a day like this.

The day of celebration, life, and age; my birthday.

As I step into the dim lit room, which seems like the place to where brutal deaths occur, the world flashes in a second. What was once a dark eerie room now changes to a fully decorated colourful bright ball of sunshine. Ghastly to lively. Screams flooded across the walls; HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Flabbergasted, astonished, taken back, the lifeless soul of what was once my body stood still in silence for seconds.

Looking around, bright curly strings all over the ceiling. Three layered cakes of what seems to be Neapolitan staring down at me as it stands in the middle of the room. Lights flashing from all over. Faces of familiar people scatter around with longing expressions. The feeling of pride swarming around them.

As seconds go by, smiling from ear to ear. Raising our hands, the surprise has been a success. The surprise that shook me to the core. The surprise that made me understand the nature of shock. The nature of what it feels like to be loved by many. Appreciating each and every body who had joined. Even by just giving a certain amount of money for the party. Everything.

The atmosphere absolutely lit up with smiles on everyone's faces. A light hearted one. Music blasted through the roof. People chatter away as normal while some greet with the brightest emotions.

Gifts flood in a corner as friends and family run to get them. Colours and ribbons decorated, millions of thoughts and money given. The party itself is a present, something thought out made just for a person. Created to celebrate, honour, make memories.

Birthdays are one special day where the world around us gets together. Where it gives out teamwork. Where celebration is given to a person everyone knows and loves. The joyous moments will flourish as time grows old with the perfect memories to store.
